The Video Game Cover Band might not have the wittiest name in the world, but it gets straight to the point now doesn’t it? They performed this arrangement of classic Mario themes at the Lion’s Den in New York City, and I have to say that I was really digging the drum beats in this.

A Battle of the Bands is not somewhere I would exactly expect to hear a video game compilation, but hey – I’m glad Bare Necessities decided to do something nerdcore cool. Because I’m a giant Tetris geek, that is probably my favorite part of the song hehe.

I don’t know how I haven’t seen these guys before, but they rock! The Spoony Bards, in addition to having a pretty badass name, are also pretty hot at their instruments. This video shows off their Chrono Trigger music skills as they perform at ColossalCon 2007.
